WASHINGTON, D.C. – At its monthly open meeting, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued an order approving Reliability Standard CIP-012-2 – Communications between Control Centers. NERC filed a petition for approval of CIP-012-2, which requires utilities to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of real-time assessment and real-time monitoring data transmitted between control centers with FERC on January 31. In addition, FERC approved a compliance filing on NERC’s plan for collecting and reporting cold weather data. This filing satisfies FERC’s February 16, 2023, order approving EOP-011-3 and EOP-012-1.
During the meeting Mark Olson, NERC’s manager of Reliability Assessments, presented findings from NERC’s 2024 Summer Reliability Assessment.
NERC appreciates FERC’s focus on reliability matters and will continue to work toward assuring the reliability and security of the North American bulk power system.
